My best friend is an amazing history buff! When she saw this Pony Express pattern book (a celebration of the Pony Express 150th anniversary,) she jumped in with both feet. Once home with her lovingly acquired piece of history, she read the pattern and gave up! When I asked her how it was coming she told me all the fabric was in a box on the floor of her closet. I asked if she'd mind if I worked on it and in two days I had a new quilt project. I made several changes to the pattern, including the medallion and the addition of the Star Riders' names, plus the names of all the stations on the riders' route. With all the changes made, this quilt has now become my own tribute to the 150th Anniversary of the Pony Express and to my history loving friend.
