Mod Seven is a group collaboration that is composed by seven artists. Here the idea was to create a bold, graphic design with a modern feel. We decided to work primarily in black and white with hints of blue and green added for subtle color. Artists worked in their own choice of medium whether it entailed dyeing, painting, silk screening, monoprinting, piecing, applique, batik or needle felting to produce one of a kind designs. Pieces were quilted and appliqued onto a quilted black background. From there, we worked to produce secondary and tertiary designs by adding lines and circles that overlapped and were tucked under the primary design to create an overall 3 dimensional effect. This was no easy chore to do and took several meetings of the minds to finally arrive at the final product. Wow, what a ride! In the end, it was truly a labor of love and devotion! We felt that we had indeed reached our goal of creating a bold and graphic design with a very modern, unique and fresh appeal. Kudos to all the artists who worked on this collaborative project!
