This is my third quilt to finish, so the simplicity of a repeating flying geese pattern was perfect for a beginner like me. I loved taking this traditional block and making it my own with Liberty of London fabric, red and white linens, simple polka dots, and chambray. I'm still learning a lot about hand-quilting. I like to think some of my irregular stitches add "character." I know this quilt will be appreciated for many years in my home, mistakes or not! The Liberty Geese quilt is dedicated to my grandparents, Kenneth and Florence Koetter, who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this summer. The chambray fabric was given to me by my grandmother, and helped set the tone for the entire quilt. |
