This was my third quilt. I took on-line free motion quilting and applique classes, hands-on lessons on a long-arm machine, and read lots of books on technique and quilt-as-you-go. So, it was time to put it all to use. The pattern provided a place to use it all. I had great fun deciding on free-motion designs to use on the flowers and on the borders. And this was a simple introduction to applique--no turned edges. Overall, it was a great learning experience. One item learned--use great care in picking printed border fabric. Squared fabric cuts don't always yield squared designs! I have a long ways to go before I can catch up Angela Walters or Leah Day but feel like it was a good first try. |
