As we entered an extended drought period in Texas, one of the first things I noticed was the loss of many mature trees. The area where I have walked a succession of dogs over the last 35 years has seen many of these beautiful, old trees die from the lack of water. They are tagged with red tape and removed. I have enjoyed their presence every day, through good times and bad. They will be missed.
