This quilt is a history lesson on fabric. The big state of Texas is made up of many different cultural groups, represented by the different flags which I replicated with the actual colors.
The colorful circle is the blending of all those cultural groups and their impact in Texas way of life. Eventually, we all come together as one as represented with the Star of Texas in the center of the quilt.
The border is a time line, starting with the Native American settlements continuing to modern day Texas.
This quilt was machine pieced, raw edge appliqued, free motion quilted and hand stitched. The fabrics range from 100% commercial cottons and batiks to hand dyed fabrics.
