This quilt was inspired by a painting I did several years ago, also entitled COSTUME CHANGE. I was intrigued to see if I could portray the fluid movement of fabric as it is being lifted. Using both hand and machine appliqué as well as fusible appliqué, and painting with fabric inks, the desired result was achieved. The woman's face and arms were rendered using various appliqué techniques with a technique I call "Shadow Portraiture."
