This quilt was inspired by the Caswell Carpet made by Zeruah Guernsey who lived in Vermont in 1835. It is one of the most famous embroidered rugs and is in the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York. The blocks were inspired by the many flowers, leaves, birds, and butterflies that filled the carpet. |
