Several years ago I attended a Trunk Show and Lecture presenting Piece O' Cake Designs. The quilts were spectacular. One in particular caught my attention. It was a colorful needle-turn applique on a brown background, and wow, I really liked how the colors on top appeared so bright. The perfect fabric was in my stash, later came the perfect pattern. The playful birds and flowers were calling me. The border has been re-designed as I barely had enough of my pretty swirly brown fabric to finish; there was absolutely no room for cutting mistakes. I have since enjoyed a two day workshop with Becky Goldsmith from Piece O' Cake when she came to the Austin Area Quilt Guild and learned some new applique techniques and tricks. What FUN!

Techniques

Hand Applique. Hand Quilting. Hand Embroidering. Machine Piecing.
