One of my earliest memories is seeing both my mother and grandmother piecing quilts on their old Singer treadle sewing machines and then hand quilting them. Many of the fabrics used in their quilts came from the scraps left after making clothes for themselves, my brother, and me. I still have some of these early quilts and can point out fabrics used in some of these clothes! Mom tried desperately to teach me various types of needlework and quilting when I was young, but that was too "girly" for me at the time. Finally in 2002 (at the age of 53!), I took my first quilting class and discovered I loved it! My mother and I began sewing together each Friday in 2009 and completed this quilt together. As a tribute to her for all the times she tried to teach me about the joys of needlework and quilting, and for her dedicated help on this quilt, I have named it "A Bouquet for Mom." Thanks, Mom!
