I actually had the quilting pattern developed in my mind before I designed the quilt. I wanted to do an intricate sun with feathers as rays. My mind seems to work backwards these days gravitating to quilting rather than piecing. Once I had the sunshine I knew I needed a flower, and what better flower to use than the sunflower. When I took Carol Morrissey's workshop, all the pieces came together and a quilt was born. The name Sunflower Blues came from the intense blue used as the sky.
