The design of this quilt, one of my first, is based on a photo that I took of the upper workings of a historic carousel at Glen Echo National Park outside of Washington, DC. I'm a historic architect and often see many similarities between quilt design and building design, though this is not typically how I see those connections. I chose this photo as the basis for a quilt because it's visually striking and abstract at first glance. Once you know what it is, however, it makes perfect sense.
