This quilt is modified from a pattern called "Twenty-One Birds", from the book "Stitched Raw Edge Applique" by Sue Nickels and Pat Holly. My friend, Margaret, and I were going to make the same small quilt and learn to do the blanket stitch around the birds on the machine. But, I was not happy with my results, so I did the blanket stitch by hand instead. It was a fun wall hanging quilt to make.
