This was my test-the-pattern quilt for the Blooming 9-Patch design from Blanche Young's book, Tradition with a Twist. I made the top in 1997 or 1998 and had been sporadically hand quilting it with perle cotton #8 in the Big Stitch style for about five years. I enjoy hand quilting but lack time; however, I recently learned how to use Jacky Peterson's Gammill quilting machine -- the hand quilting was unquilted in six hours and requilted in three. My brother Andrew in Houston likes the backing, which inspired the quilt name, so he'll get this quilt.
